Cracking the Code: An Update on Passive House and Codes in Massachusetts

Massachusetts is "all-in" on building standards that deliver decarbonization, resilience, grid-friendly electrification, and savings. In this presentation, Paul Ormond of the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources provides an update on how Massachusetts codes deliver these benefits using a "thermal code" approach built into the Stretch and Specialized Codes.  This approach also greatly closes the gap between standard, model codes and passive house which is now mandatory for large multifamily projects in Specialized municipalities. Paul also provides an update on some recent Massachusetts amendments, municipal adoption, passive house starts, Mass Save incentives, and CPACE financing opportunities.

You can watch the recording of the presentation and Q&A, and you can download the slides here.

This event took place on February 11, 2024 at the BSA Space in Boston, MA. It was supported by the Sponsors of Mass Save.
